Prepare contacts and groups for SMS campaigns
Build a clean audience using Excel .xlsx or CSV imports, saved contact groups and campaign-specific recipient selection. Start with a small test file before importing your full list.
Prepare the file and mapping
Use a header row such as Name, Phone and Email, with one recipient per row. Store phone numbers as text so spreadsheet software does not remove a leading zero or convert them to scientific notation. Review numbers before upload.
Choose the relevant Excel worksheet. Match each portal field to the correct spreadsheet column and select an existing group when appropriate. Understandable column names help, but do not replace reviewing the mapping.
Check what was imported
Review imported, duplicate and rejected counts. The number of new contacts can be lower than the file row count when duplicates are present. Correct invalid entries rather than repeatedly importing the same file.
Open several imported records and confirm their names, numbers and email fields. Verify the intended group allocation. Keep the source file secure and only upload information you are authorised to use.
Separate saved contacts from sendable recipients
Select a group or individual recipients for a campaign. The final preview excludes duplicate numbers and opted-out contacts. If credits are insufficient, remove recipients or fit the campaign to available credits.
Those campaign exclusions do not delete the saved contacts or group membership. Recalculate after changing audience or message content; personalisation and footer text may affect the required segments.
Respect opt-outs and privacy
Review the Opted Out view and do not re-import a person to work around suppression. If a request appears unprocessed, provide support with the relevant campaign reference rather than a full contact export.
